The New York Jewish Guild for the Blind spent $30,306 last year in its work and incurred an operating deficit of $12,355, Jerome Levine, treasurer of the organization, reported at the annual meeting of the group last night at the office of the Guild. Former Commisioner of Education I. Montefiore Levy Presided at the meeting.
Leonard M. Wallstein, chaiman of the Guild committee in charge of its forthcoming concert, reported that the advance ticket sale indicated that the event would enable the group reduce the deficit incurred during the year.
The income of the Guild from memberships, pencil campaign, contributions, benefits and other sources, was $117,950.68, it was reported.
Of the expenditures, $53,993 went for maintaining its home and workshops at yonkers, where the blind receive support. education, training and vocational guidance; $23280 far its welfare department, whick supports the blind in their own homes and furnishes medical care. nursing service and aid in saving and restoring sight; $53 ,031 was spent by its community workers auxiliary, which provides workshops where the blind may earn a living, and a community center for receation and social exchange. Another Guild auxiliary offers summer vacations to the blind, and a dormitoy in the city.
The following officers and directors were elected to serve for the ensuing year: I. Montefiore Levy, president; Leonard M. Wallstein, vice president; Ephraim B. Levy, honorary president, Mrs. Joshau Piza, honorary vice president; Jerome Levine, treasurer; Miss E. Aimee Piza, recording secretary. and Abrabam Arndt, corresponding secretary.
