Action Follows Complaint of Roumanian Legation in Rome (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
Four Roumanian student leaders, accused of fraud, were suspended from the University of Bucharest for one year by an order of the University Senate.
The four constituted the delegation representing Roumanian student organizations at the International Student Congress which was recently held in Rome. According to a report of the “Dreptatea,” it was established that the delegation, although it received a subsidy of 240,000 lei from the government, did not pay its hotel bills in Rome. One of the delegation was accused of stealing a diamond from a Roman jeweller and was arrested on the basis of this charge.
The action against the students was taken at the complaint of the Roumanian legation at Rome, which stated that their behavior harmed the good name of Roumania.
