The Gush Emunim announced that it has prepared a master plan for settlements on the West Bank that envisaged a Jewish population of one million in that territory within 25 years, thereby establishing a Jewish majority. Hannan Porat, chairman of the Gush secretariate, said the plan has been submitted to the appropriate governmental offices.
Addressing a press conference on the anniversary of the first Gush settlement in the Samaria region, Porat claimed that the settlement plan would be restricted to government-owned land and that Arab lands would not be expropriated. There are presently six Gush Emunim settlements in the Judaea and Samaria regions, all of them established in the last six months.
