Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion has established the nation’s first chair in American Jewish History, Dr. Nelson Glueck, president, announced today. Dr. Jacob R. Marcus, professor of history at the College Institute’s Cincinnati school, has been appointed as first occupant of the chair which carries the name of Adolph S. Ochs, late publisher of the New York Times.
