The 36th annual convention of Hadassah will open in New York on August 20 and will be attended by more than 1,500 delegates and guests, representing 300,000 women in all parts of the United States, it was announced here today by Mrs. Samuel W. Halprin, national president of the organization.
The announcement pointed out that the forthcoming convention is one of the “most significant” in the history of Hadassah. “With Israel beset by complex political, social and economic problems–in addition to the possibility of renewed Arab aggression–there is imperative need for Hadassah to continue, and in many cases strengthen, its comprehensive program of health, welfare, youth rehabilitation, vocational guidance and land redemption projects in the young republic,” the statement said.
