The sum of $1,000,000 was cabled tonight by Hadassah to the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem to meet emergency needs of orphaned Jewish children entering Israel.
Prof. Selig Brodetsky, member of the Jewish Agency executive who is now visiting this country, addressing a Hadassah dinner here tonight at the Plaza Hotel, said that the latest acts of the United Nations “are encouraging to all Jews because it appears that the representatives of the nations of the world now realize that only realistic policy can be employed.” Speaking as a British Jew, he expressed the hope that “from what has happened so far,” Britain has begun to appreciate the place of Israel and its importance in the Middle East.
