The 35th annual convention of Hadassah today voted a budget of at least $6,535,000 for 1950 for the maintenance of Hadassah programs in Israel. The delegates also reelected Mrs. Rose Halprin president for a third term.
A resolution called on the U.S. Government to use its influence in the United Nations to support a solution of the Jerusalem issue which would safeguard the Holy Places and at the same time incorporate Jewish Jerusalem within Israel. In a resolution on genocide, the delegates recommended U.S. ratification and asked the organization’s 270,000 members to write to their Senators urging approval of the treaty. The parley also expressed itself in favor of the Declaration of Human Rights and urged that it be completed in the U.N. and presented to the member nations so that it could be adopted universally.
