Dr. Menachem Shumert, Hadassah specialist on communicable diseases, is leaving for Mauritius on Sunday to investigate the health conditions of the Jews interned there, it was disclosed today.
The British Government announced some months ago that as soon as transportation was available the internees would be permitted to come to Palestine. A recent outbreak of infantile paralysis on the island, however, has delayed their emigration, and it is believed that Dr. Shumert is going to Mauritius in an attempt to speed transfer of the internees.
