Hadassah raised $22.3 million this year, the largest sum ever in its 61-year history. This was announced as the women’s Zionist organization ended its annual meeting here. Hadassah will use $7 million of the funds for the Hadassah Medical Organization, which directs the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem, and $2.1 million will support Hadassah youth aliya’s 267 villages and day centers in Israel which care for 12,000 children a year. Hadassah also allocated more than $3 million in the United States for its adult and youth activities.
Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson, chairman of Hadassah’s medical building program in Israel, announced that Hadassah would seek $40 million during the next three years for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Mount Scopus Medical Center in Jerusalem, which was regained after the Six-Day War. Mrs. Rose E. Matzkin of Westbury, Conn., was re-elected president of the 325,000-member organization.
