Although the recession has made it difficult for many organizations to meet their budgets and commitments, Hadassah has fulfilled its twelve-month quota of more than $9,000,000 in nine months, it was reported today by Mrs Benjamin Gottesman, national treasurer of Hadassah in a special report to the organization’s National Board.
This sum, the report indicated, includes the following contributions: $3,300,000 for Hadassah’s medical work; $1,000,000 for the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center now being built near Jerusalem and $2,100,000 for Youth Aliyah, which conducts a program for relief and rehabilitation of immigrant Jewish children in Israel. Also $640,000 for Hadassah’s vocational education program; $800,000 for Jewish National Fund; $45,000 for Hadassah supplies and $120,000 for Hadassah’s youth work in the U.S. Special gifts totalled $110,000. In addition, Hadassah received $102,000 from wills and bequests.
