Two hundred members of Hadassah-WIZO from all over Canada met at the Four Seasons Hotel here in order to assess the activities of the child guidance clinic and research institute which it sponsors in Jerusalem. Numerous psychologists, sociologists and educators also participated.
Dr. Reuven Feuerstein, assisted by Malka Hoffman and Dr. Yaakov Rande of the Jerusalem Research Institute, explained how, through the enrichment program and the learning potential devices, handicapped children in Israel have become fully able and responsible citizens. Feuerstein, who pioneered the methods of developing the natural abilities in retarded children, explained how his methods achieved international success and are being applied in United States clinics and universities dealing with handicapped children.
The Hadassah-WIZO of Canada, whose 60th anniversary will be celebrated this year, holds its annual convention in Jerusalem from Nov. 6-16. “We shall dedicate the whole month of September to the distribution of information regarding the humanitarian role played by Hadassah-WIZO both in Canada and Israel,” Mrs. Clara Balinsky, national president, said.
