Haifa’s 10 movie houses were shut down by their owners Sunday for an indefinite time to protest against the city tax on movie tickets. The owners claim the municipality is taking too large a share of their box-office proceeds and say they will not reopen until the special movie tax is waived As a result, the streets of Haifa are almost empty during the evening hours.
