The constructive role of Reform Judaism in the life of the Jewish community of South Africa was lauded here last night at a banquet given in honor of Rabbi M.C. Weller, leading Reform rabbi in this country, who is celebrating the 21st anniversary of his ministry.
Present at the banquet were representatives of major Johannesburg churches and Jewish leaders, including the president of the Board of South African Jewish Deputies, the head of the Zionist Federation and others. It was announced that members of the Reform movement in Johannesburg had contributed funds to various congregational projects in perpetuation of Rabbi Weiler’s name.
