Hakoah Soccer Team Arrives in United States

Twenty-two members of the Viennese Jewish sport club, Hakoah, comprising the soccer team of the club, which will play its first game here on Sunday, April 25, arrived Saturday morning on the steamer Berengaria. They were met at the steamer by Congressman Emanuel Celler, heading the reception committee. The group, whose ages range from 18 to 27, was headed by Dr. Eugen Felix, vice-president of the Hakoah Club.

They were conducted to City Hall where they were given an official reception by Mayor Walker at noon.

The members of the team are Dr. Eugen Felix, Joseph Gruenfeld, Dr. Valentin Rosenfeld. Max Scheuer, Maximilian Gold, Alexander Neufeld-Nemes, Moriz Haeusler, captain. Albert Guttman, Ernoe Schwarz, Erwin Pollak, Alexander Fabian, Joseph Eisenhofer, Jacob Wegner, Alois Hess, Alfred Krausz, Max Gruenwald, Siegfried Wortmann, Theodor Wegner, Heinrich Schoenfeld, Siegfried Vogelfaenger, Leo Drucker.

During the week the team will work out on the Crescent Athletic Club field and will play practice games Tuesday and Wednesday, against the Brooklyn Wanderers and the New York University team.

The southern New York State Football Association made public the personnel of the eleven for the game at the Polo Grounds on April 25 against the Hakoah team.

The following were selected: Baird, Vasco F. C.; Levin, Viking A. C.; Hunt, Calpe American F. C.; Murphy, Galicia S. C.; Holland, Norwegian Turn Society F. C.; Varga, Hungarian S. C.; Findlay, Galicia S. C.; Gray, Vasco F. C.; Rew, Hungarian S. C.; McChesnie, Galicia S. C.; Glen, Vasco F. C.
