A man who described himself as Robert M. Smith, 26, a lawyer living at 1,567 West Sixth street, Brooklyn, was arrested yesterday on charges preferred by George Mearsheimer, attendant in Night Court. Mearsheimer charged that while on his way home from work he was struck in the face and chest and told, “Jews walk in the street.”
He walked in the street until he found a policeman, and at his request his assailant was arrested. At West Fifty-fourth Street Magistrate’s Court arraignment was postponed and Smith was released in the custody of his attorney.
