Hamas supporters demonstrated in the West Bank town of Nablus demanding the release of activists detained in Palestinian jails since a terrorist attack last November in Jerusalem. Palestinian sources were quoted as saying that security forces were braced for possible confrontations with Hamas activists as tension between the two groups continues. Last week in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian security officer was killed during a car chase involving Hamas fugitives that also resulted in the deaths of a Palestinian boy and girl.
