Hamas threatened Salam Fayyad after the new Palestinian Authority prime minister came out against “armed resistance”.
Hamas broadcaster Al-Aqsa Television over the weekend said Fayyad was a “marked man”, a denunciation echoed by the Gazan terrorist group Popular Resistance Committees.
The threats came in response to a CNN interview in which Fayyad, a Western-educated reformist, criticised Palestinian guerrilla and terrorist attacks as counterproductive.
“This is complete chaos,” he said. “Anyone resisting, however which way they want, whenever they want, from wherever they want – is that resistance? That has destroyed our national project completely.”
