The entire Sephardic Jewish Community of Hamburg, Germany, numbering 150 persons, will be removed from the Nazi State and transplanted in Surinam, Dutch colony in South America.
A resolution to assist the transfer of the Hamburg Sephardim, descendants of Jews who hundreds of years ago settled in Germany after fleeing from anti-Jewish persecution in Spain and Portugal, was adopted by the World Sephardic Congress here. It was learned that Dr. A.J. Baron van Heemstra, Governor of Surinam, has declared there is a possibility of settling 200 to 300 Jewish families in the Dutch colony on the eastern coast of South America.
