United Nations Secretary General Dag Hamrrarskjold is trying to get Prime Minister David Ben Gurion to reconsider rejection of a proposal that survey of recent Israel-Syrian and Israel Egyptian incidents be made by Maj. Gen. Cari C von Horn Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization.
The latest letter is understood to make an effort to dispel Israeli suspicions concerning the implications of such a survey by Gen. von Horn. Israel rejected the UN Chief’s proposal, made in an earlier letter to the Prime Minister. United Nations circles here reported that the truce chief and Mr. been Gurion would meet later this week or early next week on Mr. Hammarskjold’s latest formulation.
