About $7,000 was realized from the benefit recital given by Hadassah at Carnegie Hall Saturday evening despite the fact that Maria Jeritza, who was scheduled to sing, did not appear because of illness. Nina Koshetz, soprano, and Sascha Gorodnitzki, pianist, appeared in a joint recital in her stead.
A refund was offered to the audience but only a few availed themselves of the offer. Mme. Koshetz and Mr. Gorodnitzki were warmly received, however.
The announcement of Mme. Jeritza’s illness was made from the platform by Felix M. Warburg, who with Mrs. Warburg, was one of the box holders.
Mrs. Herbert H.Lehman was honorary chairman of the committee in charge of the concert. The receipts will go toward the maintenance of the Hadassah health programs in Palestine.
