The Hapoel Hamizrachi, religious Zionist movement, today celebrated the 40th anniversary of its founding at an assembly here attended by delegates representing the group’s 70,000 members and 25,000 members of its affiliated youth movement and 80 agricultural settlements.
Among the major speakers at the celebration were Education Minister Abba Eban, on Sehalf of the Government; Kaddish Luz, Speaker of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament; thief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim; Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive; and Yerusalem Mayor Mordechai Ish-Shalom. Interior Minister Moshe Shapira, leader of the Hapoel Hamizrachi, reviewed the achievements of the movement since its founding.
