Harlem Synagogue Plans Home Camp

The Institutional Synagogue, 37-43 West 116th street, will convert its building into a home campduring the summer.

The camp will be under the direction of Rabbi Philip Goodman, assisted by a staff of counsellors. Its aim will be to provide for boys and girls between the ages of six and fifteen who are unable to leave Harlem an organized recreational and educational program.

Summer home camps have been sponsored by the Jewish Welfare Board at Jewish Centers during the past few years. This project is based on the play schools created by the Child Study Association.

Camp Ta-a-noog, as the camp is known, will provide a complete program of camp activities.

Wednesdays will be devoted to all-day outings. Among the places visited during the summer will be Yankee Stadium, Tibbets Brook Park, Bronx Park Zoo, museums and Palisades Amusement Park.

Lunch will be served at mid-day under the director of a dietician. The camp will be in session during July and August daily, except Saturday and Sunday, from 9 A. M. to 5. P. M.

The Hebrew language will be studied.

The camp staff includes Rabbi Goodman, director; M. Urieff, head counsellor; Ben Borko, Milton Rosenberg, Herman Cohen, Herman Munitz, Mollio Gerstein, Ethel Grumer, Helen Hendler, Adele Friedlander, Yetta Margulies, Rebecca Taitz and Barbara Rachunow.

ZIONIST LEADER TO SPEAK ON ANTI-NAZI RADIO PROGRAM

Abe Goldberg, vice-president of the Zionist Organization of America and member of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, will speak over Station WLTH under the auspices of the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League on Wednesday evening from 10:45 to 11. This is the fourth in a series of broadcasts by the League. Goldberg will speak on “Manners of Hitlerism.”
