Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman and Theodore R. McKeldin, former Governor of Maryland and current president of the America-Israel society, paid memorial tributes today to George L. Cassidy, former executive director of the society, who died Sunday. He was 60.
Mr. Cassidy directed the society from 1954 to 1961 in its program of advancing cultural relations between the United States and Israel. A former managing editor of the New York Post, Mr. Cassidy was a member of an expedition to Israel in 1960 which explored the harbor of Caesarea, built by King Herod. The expedition also studied the Sea of Galilee.
