A new training farm, named in honor of Ben Zion Feuerstein, was officially opened today at Karlowy-very by the Hashomer Hatzair.
Feuerstein, a student from Munkacavo, which was occupied by Hungary after Munich, recognized a Jewish resistance group. After the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, German governor of Czechoslovakia, Feuerstein was captured by the Gestapo. Despite torture he refused to reveal the names of his comrades and was finally murdered at the Mathausen concentration camp in Austria.
Speakers at the ceremony emphasized the significance of establishing a training arm in honor of a Jewish here in a city which still has 50,000 Germans to 10,000 Czechs.
