Dr. Myron Krainin, Russian Jewish social worker and president of the Emigdirekt, the United Jewish Emigration Committee of Berlin, sailed on the steamer Columbus for New York.
The purpose of Dr. Krainin’s journey is to confer with leaders of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society of America concerning the needs of Jewish emigrants.
Dr. Krainin was formerly president of the Petrograd society “Mefitzei Haskala,” a society existing before the war for the purpose of spreading culture among Russian Jews. During the war Dr. Krainin was president of the Yecopo, the Jewish relief committee of Russia, which collected and expended during the war eighteen million dollars. Dr. Krainin at one time donated the sum of $100,000 for the “Mefitzei Haskala.”
A group of fifty-five Worcester Jews acquired title to the old Leicester Country Club and will construct an eighteen hole golf course to be ready next May, for the exclusive use of Jews, an Associated Press despatch from Worcester stated.
