The new regulations on the placement of orders for German goods under the reparations agreement with Israel, which were announced by the West German Government yesterday, were discussed today in a radio broadcast by Dr. F. E. Shinnar head of the Israel Purchasing Mission.
He told his listeners that a total of $95,000,000 would accrue to Israel during the two fiscal years ending March 31, 1954. Of that sum, $60,000,000 would be spent in Germany for various types of goods and $35,000,000 would be paid from German sterling balances to Britain for petroleum purchases for Israel.
Dr. Shinnar declared that the Israel Mission would give top priority to the placement of orders for iron and steel products, chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and certain agricultural raw materials. As a role, he said, Israeli orders will be placed directly with German manufacturers without the services of an intermediary.
