Col. Shoshana Gershom, commander of the Chen, Israel’s army women’s corps, departed for New York today to begin a six-week speaking tour of the United States and Canada in behalf of the Israel Bond Organization. Col. Gershom, a veteran of the Haganah and the British women’s corps during World War II, was among the first group of officers to train the new Israeli units in Jerusalem during that city’s siege by Jordanian forces in 1948.
