The ritual murder tale in connection with the death of the boy, Grusch, which was spread by the “Arbeiter Presse,” the organ of the Hakenkreutzler, was supported by the press of a monarchistic tendency.
Hofrat Wahl, head of the Public Security Bureau of the Vienna Police Department, issued the following official statement: “The anti-Semitic press intentionally perverts the facts. The police, as well as the official medical examination of the body, established beyond the shadow of a doubt that there were no cuts on the body of Grusch. It was established that the wounds resulted from bites of dogs; the imprint of dog’s teeth was found on the body. This was substantiated by a veterinary.”
