President Zalman Shazar of Israel will serve as Honorary President of the International Conference of Jewish Communal Service to be held in Jerusalem on August 19-23, 1967, it was announced here today by William Avrunin, of Detroit, and Dr. Giora Lotan, of Jerusalem, newly-appointed co-chairmen of the Jerusalem gathering. The conference will be the first international assembly of Jewish social service workers held in Israel.
Mr. Avrunin, who is president of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service and executive director of the Detroit Jewish Welfare Fund, and Dr. Loten, director general of the National Insurance Institute of Israel, were chosen to direct the conference. They were named co-chairmen of the forthcoming parley in Jerusalem at a conference of Jewish communal workers which concluded here today.
