Heavy exchanges between the Israel Defense Force and the Islamic fundamentalist Hezbollah movement in the southern Lebanon security zone were reported Sunday.
Reports from Lebanon said IDF artillery, tanks and attack helicopters struck Hezbollah positions in the eastern sector of the zone. An IDF spokesman confirmed the clashes, but denied Lebanese radio reports that an Israeli armored unit was operating north of the security zone.
There were no Israeli casualties in the exchanges, the spokesman also said.
