Hebraists to Meet in Philadelphia

Plans were completed here for the ninth annual convention of the Histadruth Ivrith, the Hebraists’ association of the United States, an organization devoted to the study and exposition of the use of Hebrew in literature.

Addresses will be made at the three-day convention, beginning Friday afternoon, December 24, and ending Sunday afternoon, by Rabbis Max D. Klein and Simon Greenberg, Judge William M. Lewis, Dr. Benjamin I. Gordon, Joseph L. Kun, David Bethlachmy, Abraham Wernick. Louis Levinthal, Prof. Max A. Margolis, Dr. Chaim Greenberg and Abraham Goldberg. Dr. Chaim Weizmann may also address the convention.

The Friday and Sunday sessions will be held at Dropsie College, and that of Saturday at B’nai Jeshurun Community Centre. Delegates from many states are expected to attend.

The presidents of the nineteen constituent societies of the Associated Jewish Charities of Baltimore. Md. distressed the survey of their work now being made at a dinner given at the home of Sidney Lansburgh. president of the charities.

It was decided to hold a public meeting in connection with the survey within the next two months and to hold the normal meeting of the association on the third Sunday of January. A committee to arrange a public meeting in honor of the late Julius Levy was appointed.
