The Dade County Board of Instruction approved today the inclusion of Hebrew among the modern languages to be taught in the public high schools in the Greater Miami area during the coming school year. The first class in Hebrew will be held at the Miami Beach Senior High School.
The decision of the Dade County Board of Instruction to approve Hebrew language courses in Miami high schools follows extended efforts by the Bureau of Jewish Education, the local Zionist organization and the Jewish congregations here urging the incorporation of Hebrew in the school curricula. Plans are now being made for the possible inclusion of Hebrew as a language of instruction in the Junior high schools of Dade County.
