World War II veterans were urged today by the Hebrew committee for National Liberation to register with the “George Washington Legion” for service in Palestine. Representatives of the Committee announced at a news conference that the American League for a Free Palestine will accept registrations for the Legion, which be turned over to the United Nations so that “the U.N. will have the nucleus of a body of volunteers for the preservation of peace and civilization in Palestine.
