Hebrew should become the “lingua franca” of the Jewish people, Ralph I. Goldman, executive vice-president of the Joint Distribution Committee stated here. “I believe that the Hebrew language is essential to our survival as a people,” he said. Goldman spoke at Boston Hebrew College’s commencement exercises where he received the Philip W. Lown Distinguished Service Award for “exemplary leadership in furthering the cultural and educational vitality of the Jewish people.”
