Julian Morgenstern, president of the Hebrew Union College, will visit Omaha to be the principal speaker at a congregational testimonial dinner in honor of Rabbi Frederick Cohen, recently elected rabbi emeritus of Temple Israel, that will be held at the temple October 21.
Rabbi Cohen has served Temple Israel for over thirty years, since March, 1904. He came to Omaha after a seven-year rabbinate at Fort Wayne, Indiana. On the occasion of his twenty-fifth anniversary in the pulpit, Dr. Cohen was elected rabbi for life. He was elected rabbi emeritus last month.
Rabbi David H. Wise will succeed Rabbi Cohen as the active leader of Temple Israel.
