Hebrew University archaeologists digging south of the Carmel range have uncovered the remains of a winery some 1,500 years old. It is located at Ramat Hanadiv, near the modern winery operated in Zichron Yaacov. No samples were found. Other discoveries in the region date from the Roman-Byzantine periods. They include a massive Roman structure which may have been a fortress overlooking the ancient city of Caesarea on the coast.
