In an effort to provide work for needy students, the Hebrew University in Palestine is employing students in construction work on the new building, states a report received by the American Advisory Committee today. Forty-seven students have been employed to date in work on the new Library and the Physics Building, now under construction. The University cooperates with the Students Organization in finding work for students, in connection with its building program, and in the administration offices of the University.
The American office of the Hebrew University also reports that among the recent acquisitions to the University Library is a letter written by Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the first President of the Chinese Republic, setting forth his admiration for the Zionist cause. The letter, dated April 24, 1920, was donated by N. E. B. Ezra, Shanghai, China.
To help meet the needs of medical men in the Physicians Organization in Tel-Aviv, Palestine, the University Library has opened a branch in the Health Centre of Tel-Aviv. The University Library has donated its duplicates of books of medical interest and has enabled the Branch Library to open with about 7,000 volumes. Dr. Julius Jarcho of New York has assisted the Physicians Organization by subscribing to an important number of medical journals.
