Zvi Levavy, president of the Morris J. Kaplun Foundation, announced a $30,000 annual grant of the Foundation to The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The grant is being used by the university for the annual Morris J. Kaplun International Prizes which carry a monetary award of $5000 each.
This prize for distinguished publications and scholarship in the humanities, natural sciences and technology, social studies, Jewish studies and the promotion of world peace, was co-initiated by Levavy and Moshe A. Sheinbaum, trustee and vice-president of the Kaplun Foundation. It was established in 1970 by the late Mr. Kaplun of New York, under the auspices of The Hebrew University.
Boris Kochubievsky, the Ukrainian Jew who conducted a successful four-year struggle to emigrate to Israel, will be on a three-week tour in the US from April 23 to May 14.
