The Hebrew University today received a bequest of $162,000 from the estate of the late Joffe Marks, of Johannesburg, who died in South Africa in 1951. Mr. Marks, born in Lithuania, emigrated to South Africa in 1894 and became a leading industrialist. Upon his death, at 92, he bequeathed large portions of his estate to various South African Jewish and Israeli institutions.
At the same time, the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School student loan fund received word that it will receive $5,000 more from the Philadelphia chapter of the American Jewish Physicians Committee. That committee, whose chairman is Dr. Joseph Langbord, had previously contributed $1,588 to the student loan fund.
