The Hebrew University last night honored Prof. Martin Buber, world famed Jewish philosopher and thinker and former member of the University staff, by awarding him an honorary Doctorate in Philosophy, the fourth the University has granted in its 28-year history. The other three were granted to the late President Weizmann, the late Dr. Judah L. Magnes and Prof. Albert Einstein.
The award was made on the occasion of Prof. Buber’s 75th birthday. Dr. Buber, who retired from the University’s faculty two years ago, will receive an honorary Ph. D from Aberdeen University in Scotland in July. In 1936 he received an honorary Doctorate in Hebrew Law from Hebrew Union College of Cincinnati.
