Dr. Israel S. Wechsler. noted American physician and Jewish leader, has been honored by tie Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which has named the Chair of Neurology at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School, the Dr. Israel S. Wechsler Chair in tribute to him, it was reported here today in a cable from Dr. Benjamin Mazar, president of the Hebrew University.
Dr. Wechsler, who is honorary president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University and a Deputy Governor of the Jerusalem school, has long worked for the university and its medical school. He is one of the pioneers of the American Jewish Physicians Committee, founded in 1921, and of the American Friends of the Hebrew University. A former president of the latter organization, be is known as the “Father of the Hebrew University movement” in the United States.
