The professors, lecturers and assistants of the various Institutes of the Hebrew University have established a society. Professor Otto Warburg has been elected chairman. Professors J. Klausner, vice-chairman and Rabbi Segal, secretary. The society has forty members.
Old tenements on the lower east side and on the west side were marked for destruction Thursday when the Board of Estimate branch of the Municipal Assembly unanimously passed the Walker bill extending tax exemption for twenty years to model low-priced apartment houses which will be built to replace them.
It is learned the Mayor expected to announce within a few days a housing program which, it is said, will provide solution of the housing problem on a large scale, without taking advantage of the tax exemption.
