Miss Marian Anderson, prominent singer and former member of the United States delegation to the United Nations, was named “Woman of the Year” yesterday by the National Women’s Division of the American Friends of the Hebrew University. The women’s group presented Miss Anderson with its “Woman of the Year” award at ceremonies here attended by the United Nations representatives of Israel and of 12 new African and Asian states.
Michael Comay, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, announced that a Marian Anderson United Nations document reading room would be installed in the library on the new Hebrew University campus in Jerusalem. The AFHU Women’s Division has announced a campaign to raise $1,000,000 for the library.
