Newspapermen writing about the 550th anniversary celebration of Heidelberg University next June 27 have been flooded with Nazi propaganda, it was asserted yesterday by Leonard G. Montefiore, addressing Sunday’s meeting of the Anglo-Jewish Association, of which he is president.
He added that the source of anti-Jewish outbreaks in Eastern Europe was Germany.
Mr. Montefiore defended the Jewish Colonization Association against charges that it was not spending sufficient money to aid the German Jews, declaring that the organization had spent $1,000,000 to assist Jews in the Reich.
He pointed out that Baron de Hirsch, founder of the association, had provided that the bulk of the funds be used to aid Jews of the Russian Empire.
