Henri de Jouvenel, French High Commissioner of Syria, outlined the purpose of his visit to Palestine in an interview with the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here.
“I came to Palestine for the purpose of defining the methods of collaboration between Palestine and Syria and especially to establish a mutual information exchange concerning current events in both countries,” the Syrian High Commissioner stated.
When asked about the report concerning the intended cessation of the Lebanon Coast line to Palestine, the High Commissioner stated that nothing new had been discussed except the already concluded arrangement about the northeastern frontier of Palestine, Transjordania and Syria.
The Halfa-Beirut railway will be built shortly. “The capital will be either French, English or Egyptian,” he stated.
“No military questions, such as reciprocal measures regarding rebels, were discussed during my visit,” M. de Jouvenel stated.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, will confer with the French High Commissioner tonight, it was learned.
