Henry Martens, German-born Mayor-elect of this city, received a large plurality in the recent election here with the backing of the Jewish community.

In spite of recriminations and charges of prejudicial tendencies on the part of the Republican candidate, he had the support of the Jewish voting population which went on record as refusing to discriminate against him on the ground that he is German-born.
