The name of Henry Morgenthau, Jr., State Commissioner of Conservation, son of Henry Morgenthau, former United States Ambassador to Turkey, is being prominently mentioned for a place in the cabinet of President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Mr. Morgenthau is being mentioned for the office of Secretary of Agriculture. Mr. Morgenthau has been Commissioner of Conservation since January 1, 1931.
Prior to that he served as chairman of the Governor’s Agricultural Advisory Commission which drafted the farm-relief program enacted during Governor Roosevelt’s first term. He has also been active in the reforestation program authorized by the Legislature.
Mr. Morgenthau is the publisher of “The American Agriculturist” and the operator of a successful farm at Hope well Junction.
