Admitting that the White Paper on Palestine was not a “happily phrased document” and that it “laid itself wide open to misunderstanding,” the Daily Herald, the government’s #rgan, today welcomes Lord Passfield’s letter in yesterday’s Times, in which he explained what he asserted to be misinterpretations of certain paragraphs in that document, as helping to resolve to the confusion that followed the publication of the government’s statement.
The Daily Herald is pleased at the Colonial Office’s “plain assurance that state lands are not and will not be reserved only for the Arabs and that Arab unemployment will not be taken to be tantamount to the impossibility of Jewish immigration, and that immigration in fact will not be prohibited.”
