Avraham Hershkovitz, the Jewish Defense Leaguer sentenced to five years last April for passport violations in connection with his attempt to kidnap Palestinian hijacker Leila Khaled, was yesterday granted a parole by the US Parole Board, effective next May 15. Hershkovitz. 27, is in the federal penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pa. His wife, Nancy Joan, 20, is in Israel. On his release, Hershkovitz will be deported to Israel, which has accepted him as a citizen because he used to live there and served in the Israeli Army, reported Dr. Marvin Schick, the Mayor’s assistant for intergroup relations in New York City, who said it was he who “got Israel to take him.”
