Menahem Beigin, head of the Herut Party, called today for an immediate preventive war by Israel before the Arab states become militarily strong enough to overpower Israel.
Addressing a national conference of the right-wing party, Israel’s second strongest, Mr. Beigin said that the “tragic moment” was near when Israel’s enemies will possess operational superiority in view of the continuous supply of weapons arriving in the Arab countries. He revealed that at the forthcoming World Zionist Congress, to be held in Jerusalem next month, his party would issue a call to Jewish youth from all countries to come to Israel’s “rescue.
